We do all of the adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing by using attenuation, or amplification. Ohms law and filtering. So, we set up our broad band amplifier's inputs, each input has a filter array option, we set the presets and send a series of signals on a group of frequencies and do all of the math by converting digital to? analog and then back to get the results. Don't let Quantum Computing fool you, or confuse you, it's easy. Bottom line, the answer is next too your TV, it's the cable box and multiplexing. If you convert digital to analog, and plan for a long list of re-iterations, we've already done that with a? large number of synthesizers. However, in my opinion, nothing is more instructive than repair. By working with REAL electronics, designed and constructed by professional engineers, you? develop a good sense of the real world of modern electronics. @myguitardidyermom12 actually, a regulator is no more efficient than using a resistor divider to lower the supply voltage. it works in essentially the same way, only the resistance in the regulator is? a transistor which can vary its resistance to insure that the output voltage stays steady for any load current.

Another good tip for people on a low budget is get hold of broken electronic goods and harvest the components then test them. Not only will you get a supply of free components but learning how to test components properly will teach you a lot about how they work. Power supplies/chargers for electronic goods like mobile phones are also a good free source, I've got dozens of them as when people change their phone the old charger usually gets thrown? away too.

I got a pretty good iron that plugs straight into the wall, and the power supply I use (that I got for free) has a variable mains outlet on it that goes up to 150 volts I find 120 volts is too hot, and normally solder around 100, maybe 110 if I need more heat, it's great cause for 50 bucks I got a great iron with lots? of replacement tips and things, and it's variable.

@Riskteven Those typically have pretty poor performance and they're not very robust electrically. You're usually better off buying a used? oscilloscope for that price. Analog scopes are useful when dealing with repeating signals. And cheap! With non-repeating digital signals you will need a digital scope or a logic analyser.

Make sure that those Digital Multi Meters have fused inputs and if you are testing at mains voltage, fully insulated fused test leads. I will not use anything less than CAT III although most equipment I have is CAT IV.? Fluke do quite a use full document entitled "ABCs of multi meter safety" which is well worth looking at.

I very good way to memorize the chart is think of a rainbow, count what number the color is on the rainbow and add 1, red = 1+1 =2 brown and black are easy to memorize because black has no color so it is a 0 or no multiplier and brown has color but since it is not? on the rainbow, brown = 0+1=1

Finally, correct current direction. This bothered me for years. My teachers insist on conventional current flow. Through my own personal studies i found? that current flow is actually in the same direction as electron flow but i could never find someone who would admit this fact. When i asked teachers about it they would just get aggravated and change the subject or justify conventional current flow with semiconductor hole current behavior. It is absurd how people resist change and progress.

Well, they are just using nanotubes? for small, very efficient wires in this video, but nanotubes are actually one of the strongest martials known to man, harder than even diamond- so if the millitary used them, it would likely be for very effective armor.

If you touch a? 9V battery to your tongue, why don't you die when you receive the electric shock? Amps = 9V/OHMs, so your body would have to put up a lot of resistance. Is that it? If there was a no-resistance path to ground that would be 9 Amps, and I know that's a heck of a lot more than what's needed to kill you.

Zinc makes Zn 2+ ions, not Zn +. Also, I believe that the copper is already coated with copper hydroxide and carbonate. When you connect, each zinc atom loses 2 electrons while each copper? ion gains 2 electrons and becomes copper metal and releases hydroxide and carbonate ion into solution. Heh, I avoided all? mention of "9V batt bandoliers" on my site (aiming at grade school kids, parents would freak.) We did make a 1KV 12ft chain of old 9Vs at a local meeting. Write your initials in flaming charcoal on a damp board using clipleads. Or big electrolysis gas evolution in tap water (no salt.) At 1KV you can attract/repel a hanging strip of charged scotchtape. Scitoys was first to dare revealing the secret of 9V chains on a kids site.

I was born in 85. I pretty much started? off the same way in electronics as you. I was also a trashpicker when i was a kid. But what sets me different, is i have grown more into the technician/repair background, and less in the engineering background. Your way more advanced than I in engineering, but I am getting there. hehe. But repair/troubleshooting, i can tell you whats bad before i pull out test equipment I am so strong at it.

I remember playing with those whatever-in-one kits, it was amazing back in those days building and disassembling circuits and learning about electronics with them (even if I didn't fully understand it). I learned a lot of things from books too, but now I'm so glad the internet exists to give me the helpful info when I need it. I started electronics when I was 3, watching my father fix tv's. Fixed my first one when I was 7. Lots of things went into my brain only to make sense ages later. Eventually got into programming and? microcomtrollers. Biggest obstacle to my learning was money. I couldn't afford anything and relied on dumpster components till I was in my 20's.

well i'm 17 and i started like you dave, taking things apart but i didn't had knowledge of transistors of capacitors or IC's so i started making my own power supply in 2010, then i got it? i started with transistor and i remeber my first transistor circuit that ive tryed it was the Joule Thief and i worked on it few months but nobody is helping me, i got to do things my self but it does worth, so yeah in few months im good at ic's and everything so you just got to be into it, sky is the limit :D

@bonehead1603 Actually? you can do it exactly the way he did and not get shocked... a lot like how HE didn't get shocked. As long as you don't short the + & - you're fine. Even if you DO short the + & - on your average wall-wart power supply, the worst you'll do it ruin the power supply. Hard to get killed by a 12V 300mA jolt to the finger. Wire it directly to your heart and it's another story. So don't do that.
